Karl Lagerfeld presented “Versailles in a Socialist France” for the Resort 2013 collection, a timely theme considering the election of Hollande in France last week. Beauty Creative Director Peter Phillip used black velvet versions of the Chanel logo as “beauty spots” while Hairstylist Sam McKnight paired Dutch boy bobs in chalky pastels shades with long, bow-tied ponytails. It was an interesting pairing for a season that recreated formal eighteenth-century details using modern fabrics such as tech denim and plastic.
